The fifth installment of mieszkanie music is a testament to the times. We're in the midst of October, so it's time to listen to some rap music that feels like leaves falling, wind blowing, and the sky greying. Featuring the likes of Rooster, Kwame Adu, Jadasea, ZekeUltra, and even Ab-Soul, let's enjoy some of today's hip-hop contemporaries as we begin to hunker down for the winter.

<p>I’m a writer from Massachusetts who has been living in Łódź for the past year. I split my time between corporate copywriting and music journalism, and have bylines on Pigeons &amp; Planes, Big.Ass.Kids, and Graduation Music. I also have a monthly column in the Boston Compass Newspaper where I write about the latest in Massachusetts music. <p>You walk past Żabka and enter the yellow building with a plaque of Władysław Król on its façade. Continue past the door with the “Beware of the dog” sign, and enter the main building. Begin ascending the stairs. With each step you hear it. The music gets louder. You approach apartment 17. You can almost fully hear it now – a concoction of hip-hop, rap, r&amp;b, alternative, electronic, salsa, jazz, lo-fi, and other genres you can’t put a name to. This is mieszkanie music.</p>
