Maybe dense clouds are covering the sky across the whole country. Maybe you’re not feeling your best — but when you look out the window, you’ll see the rain giving drink to the flowers, the shrubs, the trees. Another day, without wind, without clouds. But ideas and reflections will come. Write them down — not on your phone — write them on a slip of paper and tuck it away. Then it will grow warmer and warmer. Feathery clouds will appear in the sky. You’ll be able to make out animals, continents, and other shapes. But don’t worry if the clouds above you don’t remind you of anything. Some clouds don’t resemble anything at all. Then, in a broad stream, air will flow in from Africa. And then the perfect day will come. But what that means — is up to you. And at the end, the sky will turn cloudless — all of it given over to the sun. In the background you’ll hear a little fan turning — your own private electric breeze.
