morning stories: #6: water
26/09/2022
Julian RiekenHania Grześkiewicz
In this episode, we turn to water. We tell stories of water as a keeper of knowledge, as a means of travel, as a source of livelihood – and of life. Our stories are of Polynesian ocean voyages, of fishermen in Jamaica working to protect coral reefs and fish populations, and of communities in Mexico coming together to combat drought. Throughout, we weave watery sounds from Bristol-based sound artist, Kathy Hinde, whose work grows from a partnership between nature and technology.
In light of recent emergencies, we encourage our listeners to support the #SaveOdra campaign to address the poisoning of the River Odra (Oder), as well as the Women Democratic Front, Pakistan in their solidarity appeal for the victims of the catastrophic flooding.
